The answer to the question of how a dental implant is made consists of 4 stages. When starting the treatment, first a detailed examination is performed and the patient’s mouth and dental structure, jaw bone, and the relationships between the teeth are examined. The number, location and characteristics of the implants that need to be placed are determined by radiography or tomography, depending on the patient’s condition.
After the detailed examination, the operation phase begins. Local anesthesia is applied to the patient. In some cases, general anesthesia can be applied upon the patient’s request, provided that the patient’s health condition is suitable.
With the help of a special drill, holes are opened in the jawbone where the implants will be placed, and implants, usually screw-shaped, are placed in these holes. Then, the gums are stitched and covered.
Dental implants are very advantageous compared to applications such as bridges and dentures used in the treatment of missing teeth. Implant teeth are perfect in terms of aesthetic appearance and are very difficult to distinguish from natural teeth.
At the same time, dental implants are no different from natural teeth in terms of biting, chewing and speaking comfort. The patient can eat comfortably as with his natural teeth, and there is no difference in his speech.
In dental implant treatment, no operations such as cutting or reducing the adjacent teeth are performed. Therefore, healthy teeth are preserved as they are. At the same time, since the space left by missing teeth in the jawbone is filled, the risk of infection caused by the gap is eliminated.
